Jimmy Butler Wants $25M for His No. 10 Jersey, Watch Warriors Rookie's Reaction in New Viral Video
In the present financial climate, Golden State Warriors rookie Lajae Jones won't be able to afford his preferred jersey number until he signs his second NBA contract.
Warriors star Jimmy Butler shared an exchange he had with Jones, who expressed his desire to take Butler's No. 10 jersey. The six-time All-Star quipped "you can't afford that, man" and set the price tag at a cool $25 million:
Anybody who remembers what Butler charged for a cup of coffee inside the NBA's Walt Disney World bubble will know he drives a hard bargain when he can.
Golden State is the first stop where he wore No. 10 in the NBA. He was inspired by world football, where No. 10 is often reserved for major stars and playmakers. It's Lionel Messi's number, for example.
Jones played at three Division I schools (Tarleton State, St. Bonaventure and Florida State), and No. 10 was constant across every stop. When it comes to his pro career, he'll have to figure out something different.
