New Warriors Rumors on LeBron James, Kristaps Porzingis, Top Free Agent Targets
All eyes are on LeBron James this offseason as the all-time great weighs his free agency decision.
The Golden State Warriors are among the most notable teams to watch for the four-time MVP. NBA insiders Marc Stein and Jake Fischer reported that how James plans to approach free agency "remains unclear," though Golden State has been described as a "certain suitor" for him if he opts to leave the Los Angeles Lakers.
The financial aspect could be a factor, though, as the Warriors' offer "is expected to top out at" around $15 million, according to Stein and Fischer.
It has been widely reported that James hopes to stay close to Los Angeles even if he leaves the Lakers, and Golden State would be the closest team to him aside from the Clippers.
Golden State has other business to attend to in the meantime, as Stein and Fischer noted that the Warriors and Kristaps Porziņģis are expected to reach a new deal on Tuesday.
Veteran big man Draymond Green also has a player option worth $27.6 million that he has yet to make a decision on.
Aside from Porziņģis and Green, the Warriors are "planning to register interest in various other free agents" while they wait on James' decision, according to Stein and Fischer.
The two insiders noted that Jock Landale, Anfernee Simons and Collin Sexton are among players Golden State is expected to pursue.
