Fresh Lakers Rumors on Cam Johnson Trade, Dean Wade and Jock Landale in NBA Free Agency
The Los Angeles Lakers reportedly are eyeing multiple targets through the trade and free-agent markets this offseason.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype named the Lakers among the teams that would be interested in trading for Denver Nuggets swingman Cam Johnson and signing free-agent bigs Dean Wade and Jock Landale.
Scotto noted that the Nuggets are hoping to get below the second apron, and Johnson is on an expiring $23.1 million contract for the upcoming season. The 30-year-old averaged just 12.2 points in his first year in Denver, but he shot career-highs from the field (48.0 percent) and beyond the arc (43.0 percent). The Lakers are one of "several teams" interested in acquiring him, per Scotto, joining the Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers and Orlando Magic.

Wade has spent seven seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers and is a depth piece in the frontcourt. Scotto reported that he's "expected to have various suitors in free agency," with the Cavs, Philadelphia 76ers, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns, Detroit Pistons and Portland Trail Blazers all joining the Lakers in pursuing him.
Landale split the 2025-26 season between the Memphis Grizzlies and Atlanta Hawks. The 30-year-old is reportedly "expected to have a strong market," with Scotto naming the Hawks, Clippers, 76ers, Cavs, and Chicago Bulls as potential suitors, in addition to the Lakers. Scotto added that Landale appears likely to "command offers north of the bi-annual exception in free agency."
The Lakers are hoping to remain in title contention next season, and adding supplemental pieces will be one of the keys to maintaining their status among the elite teams in the Western Conference.
