Updated Jaylen Brown Trade Rumors Reveal Stance from Kevin Durant's Rockets, Zion's Pelicans, Magic

Scott PolacekJun 28, 2026

The Boston Celtics were unable to land Giannis Antetokounmpo despite reportedly including Jaylen Brown in their offer, but the star winger is still generating plenty of interest around the league.

Yet the New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, and Orlando Magic reportedly are not among the potential suitors.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported Sunday those teams "have been described as not in the mix" despite being "loosely linked to Brown" in the past. Scotto did list the Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Brooklyn Nets, Charlotte Hornets, Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers as teams that have shown interest.

This comes after ESPN's Shams Charania reported the Celtics offered Brown and two first-round draft picks to the Milwaukee Bucks for Antetokounmpo. However, Milwaukee accepted the Miami Heat's offer instead.

The Rockets and Magic reportedly not being interested is notable since they were playoff teams last season but each lost in the first round.

Houston was missing star power in its first-round loss to the Los Angeles Lakers with Kevin Durant sidelined for part of it, but a Brown and Durant combination would pose significant matchup problems for opposing defenses.

They would be forced to pick their poison, which would open up shooting and cutting lanes for the other.

The same could be said of Paolo Banchero in Orlando or even Zion Williamson in New Orleans, although Brown just thrived as the clear-cut No. 1 option for Boston last season when Jayson Tatum missed the majority of the campaign.

He was a Second-Team All-NBA selection who averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. Perhaps a team that needs a No. 1 option will look at that production and respond accordingly with a move.

It just doesn't seem like it will be the Rockets, Pelicans or Magic.
