Moritz Wagner Reportedly Lands Nets Contract, Full Details on NBA Free Agency Deal After Magic Exit
The Brooklyn Nets reportedly landed center Moritz Wagner in free agency on Wednesday.
According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Wagner signed a two-year, $19 million contract.
Brooklyn's desire to bring in Wagner as a free agent was evident prior to the deal, as SNY's Ian Begley reported that the Nets were expected to show strong interest in the 29-year-old on June 30.
Wagner previously suited up for the Orlando Magic from April 2021 until the end of last season.
He's coming off a 2025-26 campaign in which he was limited to just 36 appearances, as his season debut was delayed until Jan. 11 while he recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered in Dec. 2024.
Wagner averaged 6.9 points and 3.2 rebounds in 11.9 minutes per game after returning, shooting 42.6 percent from the field and 31.4 percent from three-point territory.
The Nets will hope that he can look more like his former self following a change of scenery, as he served as one of the NBA's top backup centers prior to the injury.
From the 2022-23 season through the start of his 2024-25 campaign, he averaged 11.1 points and 4.5 rebounds to go along with 1.3 assists per game. Wagner shot 56.0 percent from the field while connecting on 32.9 percent of his triples over that span.
Now, he's joining a Brooklyn squad that wrapped up a 20-62 finish last season.
