Aiyuk Trade Value Diminishing
Aiyuk has recently posted several social media videos referencing his current standoff with the 49ers as he awaits his next landing spot and has also seemingly expressed a desire to join the Washington Commanders.
On Wednesday, he posted a video of himself holding a Commanders football with a caption that included the message, "Best team in the world."
Aiyuk was previously teammates with Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels in college at Arizona State.
While 49ers general manager John Lynch told reporters that it was "safe to say" Aiyuk played his last game with San Francisco at the end of the 2025 season, he still remains on the team's roster.
ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Aiyuk has become "untradable" on Thursday.
The 28-year-old recorded 2,357 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns from 2022-23, signing a four-year extension worth $120 million with the 49ers in Aug. 2024.
Just seven games into the 2024 season, Aiyuk suffered a torn ACL and MCL that also prevented him from playing in 2025.
San Francisco eventually voided the guaranteed money in Aiyuk's contract for 2026 after he "failed to attend meetings and declined to participate in other team activities" over the course of several months, per Michael Silver of The Athletic.
Now, he's still waiting for a change of scenery and appears to be representing himself in negotiations moving forward.
