NBA Summer League 2026 Schedule Released, Features AJ Dybantsa vs. Darryn Peterson on Opening Night

Basketball fans won't have to wait long to see AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson cross paths on a pro court.

The NBA announced its full Summer League schedule, and opening night (July 9) will see Dybantsa's Washington Wizards take on Peterson and the Utah Jazz.

The next night has the No. 3 and 4 picks doing battle. The Memphis Grizzlies and Cameron Boozer will match up against Caleb Wilson and the Chicago Bulls.

Here are all of the meetings that could pit top-10 picks against one another:

The popularity of the NBA Summer League has exploded in recent years precisely because it showcases young stars around the league. Incoming rookies get a taste of life in the Association, while players heading into their second years provide a glimpse into how they've improved.

The Dallas Mavericks' Cooper Flagg, San Antonio Spurs' Dylan Harper and Charlotte Hornets' Kon Knueppel all made a strong impression during the 2025 summer league, and that presaged how well they fared in 2025-26.

Kel'el Ware averaging a double-double (17.3 points and 10.0 rebounds) preceded a productive Year 2 with the Miami Heat. Cam Spencer also used summer league as a springboard to crack the Grizzlies' rotation.

Drawing too many conclusions from the event is never advisable. The biggest names typically don't play that much, and the level of competition is far from what you see in the regular season. Still, some fans are bound to see the encounters as an early indicator of which rookies are poised to shine the brightest in 2026-27.
