Updated NBA Title Odds 2027 After T-Wolves Trade for LaMelo Ball, Pair Star with Anthony Edwards
The summer of blockbuster trades continued on Thursday as the Charlotte Hornets sent LaMelo Ball to the Minnesota Timberwolves in return for Naz Reid and a plethora of picks.
It's a significant roster upgrade for the Timberwolves, and it led to a major boost for their 2027 title odds. They previously had +3500 odds, but now are +2200 to win it all.
It's hard to argue that there is a better backcourt in the NBA than Ball and Anthony Edwards.
Ball continues to shine as a scorer and passer, putting up 20.1 points and 7.1 assists per game across 72 contests last year. Edwards had a career year in 2025-26, posting 28.8 points, the third-best mark in the league.
The Wolves also have an elite defender in Rudy Gobert, plus plenty of depth across the board.
But even after the trade, Minnesota will have a tough battle to make it out of the West. The defending Western Conference Champion San Antonio Spurs will likely only get better as the young squad gets older. Plus, the Oklahoma City Thunder still have arguably the best roster in the league.
