Steph Curry Jokes About Yaxel Lendeborg's Comments in Response to New Warriors Rookie's IG Photo
Stephen Curry is already having fun with his newest teammate.
Michigan's Yaxel Lendeborg told reporters after being drafted by the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday, "I'm a big Kyrie [Irving] guy. So I used to hate Steph Curry."
Lendeborg was a teenager when the Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers faced each other in four straight NBA Finals from 2015 to 2018 with Curry and Irving battling for the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
Curry clearly saw the comments because he responded to Lendeborg's Instagram post about joining the Warriors by saying "Let's go! Welcome to the Bay! I'm going to work hard to be your new favorite player."
Lendeborg laughed in response and wrote, "we all good man."
Even before the social-media exchange, Lendeborg said his opinion about the future Hall of Famer has changed.
"Now that I'm actually going to be able to be on the same team with him, play and actually learn so much from him, it means a lot," he said. "He's a very great guy, genuine person. It's going to be an honor to be able to watch what he does in person."
The Michigan product would be hard-pressed to find a better person to learn from than Curry, who is one of the best players in NBA history and knows how to navigate the attention and pressure that comes with being the face of a franchise and a championship contender.
They are yet to share the court together as teammates, but their relationship is already off to an amusing start.
