New NBA Rumors on Pistons' Continued Tyler Herro Interest After Giannis Trade Between Bucks-Heat
After being traded from the Miami Heat to the Milwaukee Bucks as part of Monday night's blockbuster Giannis Antetokounmpo deal, star guard Tyler Herro continues to draw trade interest ahead of free agency.
According to NBA insider Marc Stein, the Detroit Pistons "[continue] to express trade interest" in Herro before the trade between the Heat and Bucks becomes official. Stein added that Milwaukee is "expected to listen to offers" for Herro, but it "could also elect to keep" him on the roster for the 2026-27 season.
Herro, who is a Milwaukee native, was "thrilled about a fresh start and playing for his hometown team," per NBA insider Chris Haynes. The 26-year-old reportedly "always envisioned returning home at some point during his NBA career."
It now sounds like Herro could have to wait before he gets the chance to play in front of his hometown fans. Before he was dealt to the Bucks, the Pistons reportedly had him near the top of their list of offseason targets, along with swingman Norman Powell, sharpshooting guard Coby White and two-way wing Isaiah Joe.
Detroit is hoping to add more talent next to star guard Cade Cunningham, who has emerged as one of the best players in the NBA. Acquiring Herro would provide a reliable No. 2 option who can excel both on and off the ball.
Milwaukee appears to be committed to a rebuild after trading Antetokounmpo, so flipping Herro in another deal could be the next step for the team as it hands the reins to its younger players.
