Breaking Down Bulls' Best NBA Free Agency Fits Amid Rumors, Caleb Wilson Draft Pick

Erik BeastonJun 24, 2026

The Chicago Bulls took the first step in their rebuild Tuesday night, selecting Caleb Wilson from North Carolina with the fourth pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, then wrapping up the first round by picking Dylain Swain out of the University of Texas with the 15th.

With their top two picks in the draft determined, attention turns to new general manager Bryson Graham and how he handles free agency. A pair of newly crowned NBA champions may be the best fits for his squad, as it turns out.

Jake Fischer of the Stein Line reported that the Bulls are one of several center-needy teams linked to the New York Knicks' Mitchell Robinson, who is expected to fetch a big payday in free agency.

Robinson suffered a pinky injury before the playoffs that undeniably hurt his output, including a 35.5-percent free-throw average. Still, when healthy, Robinson is a defensive disruptor capable of blocking shots and being a nuisance in and around the net.

The 28-year-old big man averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists, and got 72.3 percent from the field while coming off the bench for the NBA champion Knicks this season.

While not linked to the Bulls like Robinson, Knicks guard Landry Shamet would be another strong fit for Chicago. A three-point shooter with a knack for creating space and keeping the ball moving, he would provide the team with much-needed depth.

Shamet averaged 9.3 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and shot 39.4 percent from beyond the arc this past season.

For a Bulls team that is in an organizational rebuild, finding two battle-tested, championship-caliber players who can bring veteran leadership to the locker room should be a priority. Especially when they bring necessary skill sets to the hardwood.
