New Giannis Trade Rumors on Star's 'Doubt' About Heat Roster and 'Genuine' Celtics Interest
While he at least knows where he'll be spending the 2026-27 NBA season, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo may have some questions about his supporting cast with the Miami Heat.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported Monday night the Heat are acquiring Antetokounmpo and forward Bobby Portis for a package that includes Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and Kasparas Jakučionis.
According to The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm, Giannis had "some doubt" regarding "whether Miami's roster might be too decimated by the deal to compete for a title."

"Antetokounmpo won't sleep well yet without knowing what the Heat's rotation might look like next season," the writers posited.
When it came to the other finalist in the Antetokounmpo sweepstakes, Amick and Nehm reported the 10-time All-Star "was genuinely intrigued by the idea of playing for the Celtics and would have been willing to sign a long-term extension with Boston."
