Yaxel Lendeborg Reacts to Dusty May Leaving Michigan for Mavs HC Job Ahead of NBA Draft
Dusty May is leaving Michigan for the NBA ranks, and Yaxel Lendeborg is hoping to continue playing for his former coach.
Lendeborg said he was a bit surprised to see May take the job with the Dallas Mavericks, but now he wants May to draft him on Tuesday.
"I would love to play for him for the rest of my life," he said on SiriusXM NBA Radio. "He's that good of a coach, so hopefully he makes that decision."
Lendeborg added that Aday Mara might have the best chance of getting drafted by the Mavs, but joked that he's going to be mad if his name isn't called by Dallas.
"He should like me the most, I feel like we had the best connection," he said. "But him and Aday used to play one-on-one a lot, so I don't know if he got any brownie points for that. But Dusty better draft me or I'm gonna be very upset."
The Mavs have two first-round picks, but three Michigan players are expected to be drafted in the first round, so May likely won't get all of his guys.
Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman projects Lendeborg to be selected 11th overall by the Warriors, Mara to be taken 12th by the Clippers and Morez Johnson Jr. to be picked 14th by the Hornets.
