New NBA Draft Rumors on AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cam Boozer's Landing Spots amid Mock Drafts

Doric SamJun 22, 2026

The 2026 NBA draft officially begins on Tuesday, and it sounds like there is more clarity for how things will play out.

ESPN's Jeremy Woo reported that the Washington Wizards "have narrowed their decision" with the No. 1 pick to BYU wing AJ Dybantsa or Kansas guard Darryn Peterson. Duke big man Cameron Boozer reportedly "is also held in high regard" by the Utah Jazz with the No. 2 pick, but "rival teams have long been operating as if Dybantsa and Peterson will be the first two names off the board."

B/R's Jonathan Wasserman also predicted in his final mock draft that Dybantsa, Peterson and Boozer will be the top three selections to the Wizards, Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies, in that order.

Woo noted that the Wizards "have continued to keep things quiet as they move toward a final decision," but he still predicted that Dybantsa would be their choice over Peterson. However, he noted that there's a chance that Washington would view Peterson as a better fit alongside its other young players.

"The margin between the two players is viewed in the league as razor-thin, with Dybantsa's downhill scoring and elite physical gifts contrasting Peterson's remarkable 3-point shooting and perimeter shot creation," Woo explained. "It's close enough that fit could factor in for the Wizards as they build out their roster."

As for Boozer, all signs point to him being the No. 3 pick by the Grizzlies. His father, Carlos, starred for the Jazz during his NBA career and is still involved with the franchise, but that reportedly won't be enough for him to be chosen over the player left on the board after the Wizards' selection.

"Sources say he visited Memphis last week and previously visited Chicago and Utah, covering all bases other than Washington," Woo reported. "Although he is under consideration in Utah, where his father is part of the front office, rival teams believe the Jazz will have a hard time passing on Dybantsa or Peterson."

Fans will surely be excited to see where these future stars land when the first round of the 2026 NBA draft begins on Tuesday night.
