New Giannis Trade Rumors on Blazer's Pursuit, Role amid Celtics, Heat, Pistons, Bucks Buzz

Scott PolacekJun 21, 2026

As Giannis Antetokounmpo speculation and rumors continue to dominate the NBA offseason, the Portland Trail Blazers reportedly could be a major factor.

Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported that Portland is "involved in Antetokounmpo trade talks on multiple fronts."

While it has "discussed" acquiring the Milwaukee Bucks star for itself, it could also be a "potential facilitator" in a deal since it holds "two future first-round Bucks swaps in 2028 and 2030" and "the best and worst first-round pick between Boston, Milwaukee and Portland" in 2029.

What's more, Sam Amick of The Athletic reported Friday the Trail Blazers "have serious interest" in landing Jaylen Brown should the Boston Celtics look to move him this offseason.

Amick also noted Portland seems "to be on the outside looking in" when it comes to Antetokounmpo despite the team's overall interest.

There is no shortage of speculation about other teams as well when it comes to Antetokounmpo.

Scotto called the Miami Heat the team with "the most consistent interest" in the future Hall of Famer and one that could offer a trade package that includes Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and first-round draft pick compensation.

The Detroit Pistons could be a factor in such a trade, as Scotto reported they are interested in landing Herro as part of a multi-team deal.

As for the Celtics as a possible landing spot, it could ultimately depend on Brown and Milwaukee's overall assessment of the situation. According to Scotto, some around the league see it as "a foregone conclusion" the Bucks would attempt to flip Brown if they landed him for Antetokounmpo, but he reported that is "not a certainty" since they would also "consider keeping" him.

Still, ESPN's Marc J. Spears previously reported Brown wouldn't want to play for the rebuilding Bucks, which could complicate the overall plans.

As for the Trail Blazers, they are coming off their first playoff appearance in five seasons and have some young talent to build around moving forward. They also have Antetokounmpo's former teammate in Damian Lillard presumably returning to the floor in 2026-27.

Adding someone like Antetokounmpo could help them take the next step as contenders in the loaded West, and it appears they will at least be involved in the speculation until Milwaukee does finally move the star.
