Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart Confront Stephen A. Smith With 'Receipts' in Video After Knicks' NBA Title

One of the negatives to having strong takes on television every day is sometimes those opinions come back to bite you, as Stephen A. Smith found out when he was a guest on The Roommates podcast with Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart.

Hosting a live episode of the show in Manhattan on Friday night, the New York Knicks stars went deep into the bag to bring out "receipts" that were able to elicit an apology from Smith (starts at 1:45 mark).

One of those receipts involved going all the way back to April 4, 2016, the night of the men's college basketball national title game between Villanova and North Carolina.

Smith went on television earlier in the day to state that the Wildcats don't have a "real NBA prospect" on their roster. They wound up producing seven NBA players, including newly-crowned NBA champions Brunson, Hart and Mikal Bridges.

The funny thing is the podcast researcher didn't even have to go back that far to get a receipt on Smith saying something ridiculous. It was just over three months ago that he declared the Knicks "ain't going back to the finals before 2049" with the way they were playing.

Smith had that take after the Knicks had lost back-to-back games to the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. They did proceed to win their next seven games, so perhaps Smith helped spur their success.

The outspoken ESPN personality did take some of the credit for the Knicks getting to the Finals because of his commentary early in the postseason when they were down 2-1 in the first-round series against the Atlanta Hawks.

It's unclear if the Knicks will reward Smith's efforts by giving him an NBA champions ring, but Brunson and Hart getting him to apologize in public for a take might be the biggest win anyone gets in 2026.
