Mike Breen Almost Did Triple 'Bang!' Call on Iconic Knicks Play in NBA Finals vs. Spurs
Mike Breen's "Bang!" is one of the most iconic phrases in sports, and he almost gave fans a triple "Bang!" call during the NBA Finals.
The ESPN commentator revealed that he would've given a triple "bang" had Jalen Brunson hit a go-ahead three-pointer at the end of Game 4 against the San Antonio Spurs.
He said he couldn't use it on OG Anunoby's game-winning tip-in.
"Yes," Breen told Sports Illustrated's Jimmy Traina when asked if he would've used a triple bang. "… I can't do a triple 'BANG!' on a tip in. I just couldn't do it. So, I did a triple, 'It's good! It's good! It's good!'"
Breen preserves his famous call for the most iconic moments, and seldom does he give more than one "bang." There are a few instances in which he has used multiple, like Stephen Curry's game-winning shot against the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2016.
NBA fans may have missed out on a triple "bang" from Breen in Game 4, but Anunoby's tip-in is still one of the most memorable shots in recent history.
