Alicia Keys Reportedly to Perform at Knicks' NBA Title Parade, Latest Weather Forecast and More Info
New York Knicks governor James Dolan confirmed Alicia Keys will be on hand for Thursday's NBA championship parade.
The multi-time Grammy Award winner will perform "Empire State of Mind," her and Jay-Z's ode to the Big Apple from The Blueprint 3.
The parade is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m. ET, and fans can begin arriving four hours before that.
The Weather Channel is calling for a high of 92 degrees on Thursday afternoon but a low chance of rain.
Whatever the record attendance for a championship parade is will probably be broken this week.
The NYPD estimated the crowd was into the tens of thousands around Madison Square Garden in the immediate aftermath of the Knicks' Game 5 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
That was a spontaneous celebration deep into the night. Plenty of New Yorkers were gathered around the arena to follow the Finals from afar, and even more arrived later on to simply bask in the moment.
Now imagine what the scene will look like for the formal championship parade.
This will be the Knicks' first trek through the "Canyon of Heroes" in Lower Manhattan. When they won the 1973 Finals, they were honored in more understated fashion at the mayor's mansion and City Hall.
