Watch Spike Lee Call Michael Jordan After Knicks Win NBA Title as Mars Blackmon from Iconic Nike Ads
Even Mars Blackmon was celebrating the New York Knicks' first championship in 53 years after the Eastern Conference team defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals.
Spike Lee brought back his iconic character and left a voice mail for Michael Jordan that said, "We haven't talked in a minute. The New York Knicks are world champions. Call me back! Orange and blue skies! Wassup Mike!"
Lee played Blackmon in the memorable Air Jordan Nike ads and famously said, "It's gotta be the shoes" when discussing Jordan's ability to soar through the air:
Jordan was always a problem for the Knicks during his playing days, as New York lost to his Chicago Bulls in the 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993 and 1996 Eastern Conference playoffs. He was a major reason the team went so long without a championship, but he is no longer standing in the way.
And now that New York is back on top of the basketball world, Lee had some fun with his fellow commercial star during his celebration.
