Patrick Ewing, Allan Houston React to Finally Winning NBA Title After Knicks Beat Spurs in New Video
Everyone involved with the New York Knicks was in a celebratory mood after the team won its first championship in 53 years with Saturday's victory over the San Antonio Spurs.
Everyone, including some Knicks legends.
"It's over," Patrick Ewing said in a celebration video also featuring former teammate Allan Houston. "It's ours now."
Ewing and Houston were two of the primary playmakers on the Knicks team that advanced all the way to the 1999 NBA Finals as the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference.
It was a memorable run that made Houston, Ewing, Latrell Sprewell and Larry Johnson fan favorites, but it ultimately came to an end at the hands of Tim Duncan and the Spurs in the Finals.
This time, San Antonio did not stand in the way.
There was a certain symmetry to the entire thing, as the Spurs won in five games in 1999 while the Knicks won in five games this year. And the victory meant Ewing and Houston could finally celebrate.
