Josh Hart Posts Epic Quote, Reflects on Trades from Lakers, Blazers After Knicks Win NBA Title
It was a long and winding journey for Josh Hart, but he is finally an NBA champion.
And he wants everyone to address him accordingly:
The New York Knicks acquired Hart from the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2022-23 campaign. It was one of a number of trades that involved the Villanova product, as he also previously played for the Los Angeles Lakers and New Orleans Pelicans.
Both of those teams traded him in the past as well.
"I've been doubted so many times, traded, had so much instability—seven, eight different head coaches," Hart told reporters Saturday after helping the Knicks win the championship. "I found a home in New York. They embraced me for the person that I am, the player that I am.
"I'm not perfect by any means. I make a lot of mistakes. But I try to put my heart out there. I try to do whatever I can do to help the team win. I don't care about points. I don't care about those things. I'm willing to sacrifice whatever it takes for this city, for this jersey, for this franchise."
Now he will forever be a New York legend as part of the team that ended a championship drought that dated back to 1973.
