Knicks' Top Trade Targets After Finals Win

That San Antonio and Oklahoma City are seen as the co-favorites probably shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

After all, they each have young rosters and appear ready to compete for titles for years to come after a memorable seven-game showdown in the Western Conference Finals.

One look at ages of San Antonio's core of Victor Wembanyama (22), Stephen Castle (21), Dylan Harper (20), Keldon Johnson (26) and Julian Champagnie (24) underscores just how young the team is and how ahead of schedule it likely was by making this past season's NBA Finals. De'Aaron Fox is considered the older veteran among those who play significant minutes, and he is just 28 years old.

If fans are to assume improvement with more experience, especially from the trio of Wembanyama, Castle and Harper, then anything less than multiple championships from this group in San Antonio would be seen as a disappointment.

But the Thunder are just one season removed from their own title and still have a young core of their own in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (27), Chet Holmgren (24), Jalen Williams (25), Cason Wallace (22), Ajay Mitchell (23) and Jared McCain (22).

Had Williams and Mitchell been healthy throughout their Western Conference Finals loss to the Spurs, perhaps they would have been the ones holding up the Larry O'Brien Trophy on Saturday.

Their odds are also notable since they are one of the teams that have been connected to Giannis Antetokounmpo. An Antetokounmpo trade would surely shake up the championship odds, meaning +250 (bet $100 to win $250) may represent some value at this point.

As for the Knicks, repeating is incredibly difficult to do in the NBA. They were the eighth different champion in eight years, highlighting the overall parity that has spread across the league.

With Jalen Brunson leading the way, they will surely be a factor next season. But recent history indicates they should enjoy their title before teams such as the Spurs, Thunder, Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics and others are in full pursuit again next season.
