For the first time since 1973, the New York Knicks are NBA champions.
Led by a stellar performance from Jalen Brunson, the Knicks took down Victor Wembanyama and the San Antonio Spurs by the final score of 94-90 in Game 5 of the 2026 NBA Finals on Saturday.
With the score tied 88-88 and roughly one minute left in the fourth quarter, Brunson connected on a go-ahead floater for New York.
Brunson finished with a game-high 45 points to go along with three assists and three rebounds while shooting 14-of-27 from the field. He also went 4-of-7 from three-point territory.

The Spurs were stout defensively in the first quarter, opening the game with an 18-8 lead and maintaining a 10-point advantage at the end of the period.
New York finished with a mere 13 points during the first, shooting just 4-of-22 from the field as a team.
San Antonio extended its lead to 16 points with just over eight minutes remaining in the second quarter, although the Knicks responded with a 22-9 run to stay within striking distance.
The Spurs still led 42-37 at the half.
San Antonio took a 12-point lead just over three minutes into the third quarter, keeping New York's offense at bay.
While the Knicks cut into the deficit before the quarter ended, they still trailed by seven points heading into the fourth.
New York faced another 10-point hole early in the final period, but it came back to take a lead with Brunson's late basket before holding on for the win.
The Knicks won the series 4-1, capturing their third championship in franchise history.
