Jalen Brunson Reacts to Wemby Shoving Him in Viral Video from Knicks' Loss to Spurs in NBA Finals G3

Adam WellsJun 9, 2026

New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson didn't publicly criticize Victor Wembanyama for an incident in which the San Antonio Spurs big man shoved him in the first quarter of Game 3 of the NBA Finals on Monday night.

Speaking to reporters after the Knicks' 115-111 loss, Brunson simply said "whatever you saw is what you saw" when asked about the play.

The officials did not call a foul on Wembanyama, but there was plenty of chippiness between the two teams throughout the game. Josh Hart was assessed a technical foul later in the first quarter for a shoving incident with Luke Kornet.

Brunson received a flagrant foul for a reckless closeout in the third quarter when he invaded the landing space on a Julian Champagnie three-point attempt.

The Spurs had a 32-22 advantage in free-throw attempts in the game, with 24 of their attempts coming in the second half.

Even though Brunson didn't elaborate on his feelings about the officiating, Knicks head coach Mike Brown used his postgame press conference to call out the refs:

"There were opportunities for fouls to be called to at least try to even the free throws out. Now, we didn't play good. San Antonio played great. We could have played better, there were a lot of things that we could have done that we did in Game 1 and Game 2. But to get 24 free throws in the second half? โ€ฆ All the shots we took, we got fouled four times, roughly, for eight free-throw attempts? โ€ฆ That's tough to overcome when you're playing a great team."

Brunson had his highest-scoring game of the series with 32 points, but it wasn't enough as the Knicks' 13-game winning streak in the playoffs came to an end.

The Spurs won in large part to Wembanyama's best performance of the Finals with 32 points on 11-of-18 shooting, eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks in 39 minutes.
