Jalen Brunson Talks 'Moving On' After Knicks' NBA Finals Game 3 Loss to Wemby, Spurs

Scott PolacekJun 9, 2026

The New York Knicks still have a 2-1 lead and home-court advantage in the 2026 NBA Finals despite Monday's 115-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3, but Jalen Brunson wants his team to approach the series like it is even.

"We've consistently talked to each other about everything being 0-0," he told reporters. "Even now, it's 0-0. Moving on and trying to stay focused. There are going to be a lot of distractions, positive and negative, but most importantly is how we compose ourselves as a team and make sure we have accountability as a team."

It is a wise approach, although the Spurs brought the expected urgency given the deficit they were facing after dropping the first two at home.

And that resulted in an excellent game from Victor Wembanyama, who finished with 32 points, eight rebounds, six assists, three blocks and two steals on 11-of-18 shooting from the field and 2-of-4 shooting from deep.

San Antonio also played swarming defense in crunch time and held Brunson and the Knicks to 20 points in the fourth quarter. That was key since it was New York that controlled play in the final moments when the first two games were on the line in large part because of Brunson's individual highlights.

That was not the case Monday.

Brunson finished with 32 points, but he was just 11-of-25 from the field and turned it over five times. Efficiency is becoming an issue, as he was a combined 19-of-56 (33.9 percent) from the field in the first two contests.

Fortunately for the Knicks, they still have the opportunity to take a commanding 3-1 lead back to San Antonio for Game 5 if they take care of business in Wednesday's Game 4. But another loss at home could turn this series for good back in San Antonio's favor.

With that as the backdrop, Brunson is already focusing on "moving on" from Monday's loss.
