Thunder's Sam Presti Defends SGA from Critics with Epic Quote About Trolls
Oklahoma City Thunder general manager Sam Presti is firing back at the online critics who have taken aim at star point guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
While speaking to reporters on Monday, Presti had an epic clapback for the trolls, saying that Gilgeous-Alexander is "playing against six people. He's got five defenders, and the sixth defender is social media."
Gilgeous-Alexander was named NBA MVP for the second straight year, but the Thunder fell short of their second consecutive NBA championship when they lost to the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals in seven games.
Throughout the postseason, Gilgeous-Alexander faced criticism on social media for frequently seeking contact to draw fouls on offense. He averaged 9.9 free throw attempts per game during the playoffs, second-most in the league this year.
Regardless of the critics, Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most dominant offensive players in the league today. It can be expected that he will be motivated to bounce back in a big way as Oklahoma City tries to chase another NBA championship next season.
