Cam Boozer Makes Pitch to Wizards as No. 1 Pick in 2026 NBA Draft amid AJ Dybantsa Rumors
Duke forward Cameron Boozer explained why he believes the Washington Wizards should select him with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
"I think I'd fit well there with their vision and their plan for the future," Boozer told Monumental Sports Network's Chase Hughes. "Obviously, D.C. is a great city. We had a good conversation for sure."
While BYU forward AJ Dybantsa is confident that he'll be the top pick in the 2026 draft, Washington could consider Boozer.
After all, Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor reported Wednesday that Boozer "remains on the radar" for the No. 1 choice.
The 18-year-old is coming off an impressive freshman year with the Blue Devils, averaging 22.5 points per game while leading all ACC players by grabbing 10.2 rebounds on a nightly basis.
Boozer also recorded 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals per game, ending the season with 55.6/39.1/78.9 shooting splits.
In the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, Boozer was projected to be off the board with the No. 3 overall pick while Dybantsa was selected at No. 1.
Wasserman highlighted Boozer's consistency in his scouting report.
"Boozer has been steady all season," Wasserman wrote. "There wasn't a minute when a new development or red flag emerged. There are some scouts who've been prepared to ignore any worries about lack of explosion or reliance on strength. These evaluators buy his track record and the idea that he'll problem-solve with skill and intangibles."
Even if Boozer isn't the No. 1 pick, he still shouldn't have to wait long to hear his name called when the 2026 draft begins on June 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
