Bucks Insider Dishes on Giannis Trade Rumors, Says Heat Have 'Best Package' of Players, Picks

Joseph ZuckerJun 4, 2026

Should a formal bidding war commence, one Milwaukee Bucks insider believes the Miami Heat can make the most compelling trade offer for star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel's Jim Owczarski argued on the Milwaukee Bucks Point Forward Podcast the Heat realistically provide the "best package." He assumed guard Tyler Herro and center Kel'el Ware would be included plus the commensurate draft capital and perhaps other players as well:

Even before their relationship with six-time All-Star Jimmy Butler, the Heat have coveted a marquee star who can bring the organization its fourth championship. Naturally, Miami is bound to enter the fray if the Bucks resign themselves to losing Antetokounmpo.

NBA insider Marc Stein reported Monday the Heat and Portland Trail Blazers "are already in pursuit."

The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm went a step further Wednesday and reported "many people around the league, from agents to executives, continue to believe that Antetokounmpo will end up in Miami when this saga finally comes to an end."

If trades were this simple, then Damian Lillard probably would've landed in South Florida instead of Milwaukee ahead of the 2023-24 season. Lillard wanted a move to the Heat, and Miami tried. Alas, Portland held firm and dealt him to the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo is, however, a different case because his 2027-28 player option allows him to exercise a lot of leverage. Suitors may be dissuaded from taking part if they get the idea the two-time MVP won't sign an extension there.

It's only early June and the NBA Finals are still unfolding. Giannis' trade landscape could evolve quite a bit before an agreement materializes, and it's not a foregone conclusion he'll even get traded.

Despite the rumors pointing to Miami's relatively strong hand, fans shouldn't be purchasing Antetokounmpo Heat jerseys just yet.
