New NBA Rumors on Uncertainty of Wizards Drafting AJ Dybantsa with No. 1 Pick
While many view BYU wing AJ Dybantsa as the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NBA draft, the Washington Wizards reportedly have not yet made a decision with their selection.
During Thursday's episode of The Zach Lowe Show, NBA insider Zach Lowe revealed that there is still some uncertainty regarding who the Wizards will select with the No. 1 pick in the draft this year.

Wizards Still Considering Options at No. 1

Draft Night Trades We Want to See 👀
"There is still a lot of intrigue, though, at the top of the draft. I don't think anyone knows who Washington is going to take for sure," Lowe said at the 1:04:55 mark. "Dybantsa is the quote-unquote 'safest' pick. Tons of Darryn Peterson intrigue still obviously around the league."
B/R's Jonathan Wasserman predicted in his latest mock draft that the Wizards would select Dybantsa, but he acknowledged that Peterson and Duke big man Cameron Boozer could enter the conversation.
"The Washington Wizards may see AJ Dybantsa as the can't-lose option with the fewest holes, while some remain turned off by Darryn Peterson's bizarre season and worry about Cameron Boozer's athletic/defensive limitations," Wasserman stated. "The Wizards will presumably listen to trade calls, particularly if they prefer Peterson or Boozer and know a rival team wants Dybantsa."
The Wizards are hoping to end their perpetual rebuild, so it will be fun to see what they decide with the No. 1 pick later this month.
