
New 2026 NBA Mock Draft from Kevin O'Connor Drops amid AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson Rumors
With the 2026 NBA draft drawing closer, a new mock draft was released by Yahoo Sports' Kevin O'Connor on Wednesday.
The Washington Wizards were projected to select BYU forward AJ Dybantsa with the No. 1 overall pick, while Kansas guard Darryn Peterson was selected by the Utah Jazz at No. 2.
O'Connor reported that Duke forward Cameron Boozer is "on the radar" of the Wizards despite Dybantsa and Peterson being considered "the favorites to go first."

Dybantsa is coming off an impressive freshman year with the Cougars, leading the country by averaging 25.5 points per game. He also recorded 6.8 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 51.0 percent on field goals.
As for Peterson, he showcased his shooting prowess for the Jayhawks when available last season. He averaged 20.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game on 43.8/38.2/82.6 shooting splits.
In the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman, Washington was similarly projected to add Dybantsa at No. 1 before Peterson was picked by Utah with the No. 2 choice.
The first round of the 2026 NBA draft starts on June 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
