2026 NBA Draft Scouting Report for Oklahoma City Thunder's No. 41 Pick Otega Oweh

Jonathan WassermanJun 21, 2026

The Oklahoma City Thunder (via Miami Heat) have officially selected Otega Oweh with the No. 41 pick in the 2026 NBA draft.

Oweh emerged as an intriguing NBA draft prospect thanks to his blend of explosive athleticism, defensive versatility, and improving offensive game.

A strong, high-energy wing, he impacts the game with his ability to guard multiple positions, attack downhill in transition, and bring intensity on both ends of the floor.

While still refining his jump shot and half-court creation, his tools, motor, and two-way upside make him a prototypical modern NBA wing prospect.

Realistic Pro Comparison: Norman Powell

1 of 3
Miami Heat v Charlotte Hornets - Play-In Tournament

Norman Powell works as a comparison if Oweh continues to grow as a scoring wing. Like Powell, Oweh has strong downhill burst, plays with physicality, and thrives in transition where he can attack closeouts and finish through contact.

Both are at their best when they're cutting, running the floor, and using athleticism to generate efficient points rather than creating complex half-court offense.

Strengths

2 of 3
Kentucky v Iowa State

Strength 1: Defense

Oweh has the size, strength, and athletic tools to guard multiple positions on the perimeter. He consistently competes on-ball and shows the ability to disrupt drives and contain stronger wings.

Strength 2: Attacking

He is at his best attacking straight lines, using explosiveness to get to the rim and finish through contact. In transition, he's a real threat to turn defense into easy points with his speed and power.

Strength 3: Energy/motor

Oweh plays with a high energy level and doesn't shy away from contact on either end. His toughness shows up in rebounding, defensive effort, and willingness to do the dirty work that doesn't show up in the box score.

Weaknesses

3 of 3
2026 SEC Men's Basketball Tournament - First Round

Weakness 1: Shooting

Oweh is still developing as a reliable jump shooter, especially from three-point range. Defenders can sag off him at times, limiting his effectiveness in half-court spacing situations.

Weakness 2: Creation

He is not yet a polished self-creator against set defenses. When his first step is cut off, he can struggle to generate clean offense outside of straight-line drives.

Weakness 3: Size for wing/forward

Though built well, Oweh lacks the height suited to playing the 3, given his limited playmaking and shooting.
