2026 NBA Draft Scouting Report for Sacramento Kings' No. 45 Pick Emanuel Sharp

Jonathan WassermanJun 19, 2026

The Sacramento Kings have officially selected Emanuel Sharp with the No. 45 pick in the 2026 NBA draft.

For four years, Sharp impacted winning for Houston with his signature shot-making confidence and scoring.

Not many non-playmaking guards his size have a chance in the NBA. But Sharp does with his shooting versatility, strong frame and admirable demeanor.

He'll be auditioning for a specialist role that practically every team needs to fill.

Realistic Pro Comparison: Eddie House

Dallas Mavericks v Miami Heat - Game Six

Eddie House carved out a long career as an undersized 2-guard who could shoot. He's the blueprint for Sharp, who isn't a creator but has deep range and the confidence to knock down contested threes.

Sharp may offer some more diverse shot-making and self-created jumpers. He's going to have an off-ball role providing spacing and perimeter firepower.

Strengths

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament – Sweet Sixteen - Practice Day – Houston

Strength 1: Shooting

With 80 threes in three consecutive seasons, Sharp has been one of the most proven, productive shotmakers in the country. The fact that he's never been below 85.0 percent from the free-throw line tells you a lot about his form and touch.

Strength 2: Finishing efficiency

He won't get to the rim often, but he's been very efficient at finishing plays in the paint, with strength, body control and touch. He shot 66.7 percent around the basket and made 13-of-28 floaters, which are important potential indicators for an undersized, limited athlete.

Strength 3: Streak scoring

Sharp has that knack for catching fire. That is another reason why he could be built for an instant-offense bench role. He can make shots from three levels in a variety of ways, using self-creation, footwork and off-ball movement.

Weaknesses

3 of 3
West Virginia v Houston

Weakness 1: Playmaking

Sharp is primarily a scorer and is not a natural lead guard who consistently creates opportunities for others. His decision-making with the ball can be inconsistent when defenses force him to make advanced reads.

Weakness 2: Size/defensive Versatility

He lacks the ideal size and length to defend multiple positions at the NBA level. This could make it difficult for him to switch effectively or match up with bigger, more physical guards.

Weakness 3: Margin for error/upside

If Sharp's three-ball is off, he's unlikely to offer much value on an NBA floor. His minutes and paychecks will be heavily determined by his shooting consistency, which has to be way above league average.
