Andreeva Beats Cirstea, Updated French Open Women's Bracket at Roland-Garros
Mirra Andreeva's quest for her first career grand slam singles title continued with another dominant performance in the French Open quarterfinals on Tuesday.
Andreeva dropped a total of three games in a 6-0, 6-3 win over Sorana Cîrstea in the first match of the day at Roland Garros. The Russian star has lost just one set through her first five matches of the tournament.
Tuesday's win for Andreeva took just 56 minutes to complete and sends her to the semifinal for the second time in three years.
2026 French Open Women's Singles Results — Tuesday, June 2
- No. 8 Mirra Andreeva def. No. 16 Sorana Cîrstea: 6-0, 6-3
- No. 15 Marta Kostyuk def. No. 7 Elina Svitolina: 6-3, 2-6, 6-2
Recap
As has been the case throughout her run thus far, Andreeva's return game was on point. She finished 6-of-6 in converting break-point chances against Cirstea, raising her success rate to 61 percent for the entire tournament (25-of-41).
Cîrstea finished without an ace for the first time in her five matches at this year's French Open.
The win put Andreeva's name in good company historically, as she is now 16-3 in 19 career French Open matches. At just 19 years old, she is the sixth-youngest women's player ever to have two semifinal appearances at Roland Garros.
Andreeva is two wins away from becoming the first teenager to win the event since Iga Świątek won her first title in 2020.
On the other end of the spectrum, the result carries added disappointment for Cîrstea. This is her final appearance at the French Open, having announced last December that 2026 would be her last year on tour.
Cîrstea tied her best career finish at the French Open. She previously reached the quarterfinal in 2009.
