The NBA Finals' matchup is set. And so is the court.
On Sunday, the NBA unveiled the two courts for this year's NBA Finals between the San Antonio Spurs and New York Knicks:
The two teams have taken a very different path through these playoffs to earn the right to play atop those courts.
The Spurs beat the Portland Trail Blazers in five games to open the postseason, the Minnesota Timberwolves in six games and the Oklahoma City Thunder in seven games during the Western Conference Finals, easily the best series in this year's playoffs.
The Knicks, meanwhile, took six games to dismiss the Atlanta Hawks before back-to-back sweeps against the Philadelphia 76ers and Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Spurs are plenty battle-tested after knocking out the defending champs. They have the best player in the series (Victor Wembanyama), a ton of quality depth on the perimeter and play fantastic defense. They are young, but they are hungry and mentally tough.
The Knicks are plenty rested and have ample experience. They've been outrageously good on the offensive end during the playoffs and aren't lacking for talent. They also have a fanbase desperate to end a 54-year title drought.
It's set up to be a very good series. The Knicks won the season series, 2-1, including the NBA Cup championship game. The Spurs (62-20) were the better team during the regular season, however, with nine more victories than New York.
The NBA Finals begin on Wednesday, June 3 at 8:30 p.m. ET (ABC) in San Antonio.
