San Antonio rallied to win the final two games of the Western Conference Finals to secure the first NBA Finals berth of the Victor Wembanyama era.

Wembanyama was one of seven Spurs players to reach double figures in the series-clinching Game 7 win over the Thunder.

San Antonio's young core, led by Wembanyama, was expected to take another year or two to develop into title contenders, but the Spurs delivered ahead of schedule.

Stephon Castle was a key contributor throughout the series and Dylan Harper played himself into a larger role as the Western Conference playoffs went on.

San Antonio's win set up a NBA Finals clash with the Knicks. New York won the regular-season series 2-1, but only one of those contests occurred after the calendar turned to 2026.

The Spurs are going after their sixth title in franchise history. They last won the Larry O'Brien Trophy in 2014.

New York is looking to end a decades-long drought that dates back to 1973.

The 2026 NBA Finals matchup is a rematch of the 1999 NBA Finals that was won by the Spurs and ushered in Tim Duncan's reign atop the NBA. San Antonio is hoping the same can happen with Wembanyama in 2026.
