AJ Dybantsa Explains Creation of Nike Signature Logo After Reaction to Trending Photos
BYU forward AJ Dybantsa has shed some light on the creation process behind his Nike signature logo ahead of the 2026 NBA draft.
"I had a little logo before, it wasn't official," Dybantsa said during a Thursday appearance on ALL THE SMOKE (5:30 mark). "But when I used to sign my signature, I always put a star. This is a true story, I went to Jamaica. My mom's from Jamaica, I went to Jamaica when I don't know how old I was. I was four years old. It was an Uber driver looking at me. You know how Jamaicans speak, 'Star boy. Star boy.' I'm like, 'Alright.' But when I got to the signature and everybody asks for signatures I signed my name with a star, with a 'J.' So I asked Nike, 'How can we put it into perspective?'"

Dybantsa's signature logo was officially unveiled in a viral social media post on April 29.
The 19-year-old is coming off a stellar freshman year at BYU, averaging 25.5 points and 6.8 rebounds to go along with 3.7 assists per game. He shot 51.0 percent from the field and 33.1 percent from three-point territory.
Dybantsa is projected to be selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the latest mock draft from Bleacher Report's Jonathan Wasserman.
He likely won't have to wait long to hear his name called in the 2026 draft, which begins on June 23 at 8 p.m. ET.
