Per Raanan, the team talked about "keeping things 'internal' and not airing frustrations publicly" after second-year pass-rusher Abdul Carter commented on Dart's Trump's introduction on X, writing, "Thought this s--t was AI, what we doing man," before deleting it.
In a subsequent post that was also deleted, Carter claimed that he and Dart had talked things out, writing, "Me and JD6 are good! We spoke earlier as Men. Yall can keep yall narratives."
Sources told Raanan that Dart was "approached recently about meeting the president during a trip to New York," and it led to him introducing Trump prior to a speech at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, last Friday.
The 23-year-old Dart was selected 25th overall by the Giants in the 2025 NFL draft after a standout collegiate career at Ole Miss.
Although he began his rookie season as a backup, Dart was eventually named the starter, and he went on to appear in 14 games, starting 12 of them.
Dart went just 4-8, but he energized the offense and put up some impressive numbers, completing 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns and five interceptions, while also rushing for 487 yards and nine scores.
After posting a 4-13 record last season, the Giants are widely viewed as a team that could take a big step forward in 2026.
In addition to the anticipated progression of Dart, John Harbaugh has arrived as the team's new head coach after leading the Baltimore Ravens to 12 playoff appearances and one Super Bowl win in 18 seasons.
As they look to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2022, the Giants will begin their season with a Week 1 Sunday Night Football game against the rival Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
