NBA Legend's Son Named No. 1 in 2029 CBB Prospect Rankings by ESPN
JJ Crawford, the son of 20-year NBA shooting guard Jamal Crawford, is No. 1 in ESPN's latest boys basketball rankings for the high school class of 2029.
Crawford is a 6'5" guard out of Rainier Beach High School in Seattle. ESPN's Paul Biancardi provided pro comparisons to both Jamal Crawford and former NBA wing (and three-time All-Star) Richard Hamilton.

Biancardi listed the younger Crawford's standout skill as: "Advanced instincts and basketball IQ, as well as three-level scoring ability, terrific early size and length." He also listed this brief scouting report about why Crawford landed first.
"The son of former NBA great Jamal Crawford, JJ controls the tempo of a game with a poise beyond his years, and he uses his playmaking instincts to create for himself and others. His handle, change of pace and overall polish mirror the advanced feel that made his father successful, while his competitiveness and production continue to separate him from his peers."
Crawford is making waves early in his high school career. MaxPreps listed him as its Co-National Freshman of the Year. His state championship team went 29-1 and finished No. 12 in MaxPreps' Top 25.
Crawford's father was a great player in his own right and carved out a two-decade career, averaging 14.6 points per game. He earned Sixth Man of the Year honors an NBA record three times, a honor he shares with ex-pro guard Lou Williams. These days, Crawford is a game analyst for NBC Sports' top NBA announce team.
