SGA, Thunder Put Spurs on Brink with WCF Game 5 Win, Box Score Stats & Highlights for Wemby, McCain

The Oklahoma City Thunder are a win away from back-to-back Finals appearances.

The Thunder took a 3-2 series lead against the San Antonio Spurs in the Western Conference Finals with a 127-114 win in Game 5.

The MVP led the way for OKC with 32 points, though it wasn't his prettiest performance. He shot 7-of-19 from the field and got most of his points at the line, hitting 16 of his 17 free throw attempts. He added nine assists but turned the ball over six times.

Jared McCain made his first career playoff start and had a bit of a slow start, but finished with 20 points, 18 of which came in the second half, and one of the best circus shots in recent memory. It's safe to say he made a strong case to be back in the starting lineup for Game 6.

Alex Caruso continued to show his value off the bench, posting 22 points, six assists and three steals in 28 minutes.

The Thunder led by double digits at the half, but the Spurs managed to trim that lead to single digits at the halfway point in the fourth quarter. OKC ultimately did what it does best, going on a run to put the game out of reach late.

Victor Wembanyama struggled a bit in Game 5, finishing with 20 points on 4-of-15 from the field, adding six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. Julian Champagnie had a solid night with 22, and Stephon Castle added 24 points, but the Spurs didn't get much else from their role players.

The Spurs' Finals dreams aren't dead just yet, but they'll need a much better showing on Thursday to force a Game 7.
