Karl-Anthony Towns, Josh Hart Send Message to Knicks Fans in Videos After NBA Finals Berth
New York Knicks fans making their presence felt on the road while also creating a raucous environment in Madison Square Garden has been a major storyline this offseason, and some of the team's players had a message for their supporters after finishing the Eastern Conference Finals sweep with a 130-93 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday.
"New York, we came here and we did what we were supposed to do," Karl-Anthony Towns said.. "โฆ We'll enjoy this night and we'll get back to work tomorrow."
Josh Hart wants the Knicks fans to remain focused on the larger goal and said, "Let's enjoy this one tonight. Season's not over yet. Y'all enjoy this, y'all have fun. Stay locked in."
The Knicks haven't been to the NBA Finals since 1999, and their fans are enjoying every second of this playoff run.
It was clear from the moment former player Stephon Marbury was leading the cheers on a flight to Cleveland on Monday morning that New York fans were going to take over, and that is exactly what happened:
Monday's outcome was never in doubt, so they got to start celebrating early. New York jumped out to a double-digit lead in the first quarter and continued to build on it for the eventual 37-point blowout.
The Cavaliers team that built a 22-point lead in the fourth quarter of Game 1 was nowhere to be found for the rest of the series and seemingly never recovered from blowing that advantage and losing in overtime.
New York will start the NBA Finals on the road whether it plays the Oklahoma City Thunder or the San Antonio Spurs, but that hasn't stopped its fans from being loud and impacting the games to this point in the playoffs.
