James Harden, Cavs Trolled by NBA Fans amid Huge Deficit vs. Knicks in Elimination Game
The Cleveland Cavaliers needed a big Game 4 performance to save their season and avoid a sweep against the New York Knicks, and things didn't go well.
The Knicks took a commanding 68-49 lead into halftime and coasted to a 130-93 win over the Cavs to move on to the NBA Finals.
As Cleveland trailed big at the half, NBA legend Charles Barkley of Inside the NBA said that the Cavs are the definition of the word quit:
NBA fans also trolled the Cavs on social media amid the blowout:
The blame can't be placed on Donovan Mitchell, who had a game-high 31 points in the loss. James Harden had 12 points on 2-of-8 from the field and five turnovers. The veteran and former MVP didn't score a single point in the second half.
The Cavs finished the game with 22 turnovers, compared to just 13 from the Knicks. New York also led the rebound battle 60-33.
Cleveland perhaps wasn't expected to give the Knicks a very tough series, given that New York swept its second-round opponent while the Cavs struggled against the Detroit Pistons. Still, losing in four games is an unacceptable result for a team with as much talent as Cleveland.
The Cavs will now head to the offseason, where they'll try to diagnose what went wrong this year.
