French Open 2026 Results, Day 2 Bracket Winners, Losers, Highlights and Day 3 Roland-Garros Schedule

Nicholas NathansonMay 25, 2026

Monday marked the final chapter for Stan Wawrinka and Gael Monfils at Roland-Garros.

Wawrinka, who is set to retire at the end of 2026, won the 2015 French Open and reached the final once again in 2017.

39-year-old Gael Monfils, who is also planning to retire at the end of 2026, entertained his home crowd on Court Phillipe-Chatrier one last time, falling in a five-set thriller.

Meanwhile, top-ranked American Ben Shelton jumpstarted his French Open campaign with a straight-set win over Daniel Merida.

In the women's draw, No. 2 seed Elena Rybakina and No. 3 seed Iga Swiatek each cruised past their respective opponents.

Everything you need, from analysis of top matches to tomorrow's schedule, is below.

Ben Shelton needed just one hour and forty-six minutes to see off his first round opponent.

The 23-year-old took advantage of his heavy first serve winning 50 of 58 points, while spraying 35 winners.

In other action, Stan Wawrinka was defeated by Jesper De Jong in four sets.

After the match, the three-time Grand Slam champion, who announced that the 2026 season would be his final one, remained on the court for an emotional tribute.

In the final match of the day, Gael Monfils narrowly fell in a five-set thriller against French compatriot Hugo Gaston.

After trailing two sets to none, Monfils forced a fifth set with his vintage-like play.

However, as the clock ticked closer to midnight, Monfils' momentum waned, allowing Gaston to persevere.

The final day of the first round continues tomorrow on TNT, which will broadcast live from Roland-Garros starting at 5 a.m. ET. There will also be whip-around coverage on truTV at the same time, while all courts will stream live on HBO Max.

Match of the Day: Felix Auger-Aliassime (4) vs. Daniel Altmaier

Daniel Altmaier has reached at least the third round here in two of his last three appearances.

In 2023, the 27-year-old stunned No. 8 seed Jannik Sinner.

Last year, Altmaier defeated No. 4 seed Taylor Fritz in the first round before falling in the round of 16.

There's no denying Felix Auger-Aliassime's talent, but clay remains his weakest surface.

In fact, the French Open is the only Grand Slam where he has not reached the quarterfinals.

These are the perfect conditions for a player like Altmaier—with his athleticism and shot variability—to thrive in.

Prediction: Daniel Altmaier def. No. 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime in 4 sets

Match of the Day: Anna Kalinskaya (22) vs. Lois Boisson

At the 2025 French Open, Lois Boisson etched her name into history, becoming the first women's wild card to reach French Open semifinals since the Open Era began in 1968.

One year later, the 23-year-old home crowd favorite will look to prove that her run last year was no fluke.

Anna Kalinskaya is a tough opponent with her baseline play and ability to redirect pace.

However, Boisson is more than capable of winning this match and should be able to persevere.

Prediction: Lois Boisson def. No. 22 Anna Kalinskaya in 2 sets
