Tuesday's brawl-filled practice between the Dallas Cowboys and New Orleans Saints apparently caught the attention of the NFL.

The league fined both teams $500,000, per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

That comes after Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer told reporters on Thursday that the league requested film from the joint practice to determine if any actions warrant discipline.

Per ESPN's Katherine Terrell, at least two fights broke out between the Saints offense and Cowboys defense during the practice. Clarence Hill Jr. of All City DLLS reported that there were at least seven fights overall.

There was also one moment posted online that caught a lot of attention involving Saints tight end Brock Rechsteiner gave Cowboys safety Jalen Thompson something resembling a German suplex.

Terrell noted the incident involving Rechsteiner started after he was punched by Cowboys cornerback Calen Carson.

Schottenheimer said afterward that he and Saints head coach Kellen Moore discussed at one point calling the practice.

"We kind of had agreed that if a couple of other things happened, we would cancel it, but they worked through it," Schottenheimer said. "Again, they settled into it, but again, there's a discipline element to playing this football game, and unfortunately we didn't handle that very well today."

Skirmishes between teams are fairly commonplace during joint practices, but even by that standard what happened between the Cowboys and Saints seemed extreme.

Even though the Cowboys and Saints held a joint practice this week, they won't actually meet in the preseason until Aug. 28. Dallas will play the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium on Saturday at 10 p.m. ET.

The Saints will travel to SoFi Stadium to take on the Los Angeles Rams on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET.
