Watch Jalen Brunson React to 'King of New York' Name When Asked About NYPD Shutting Down Watch Party
New York Knicks star point guard Jalen Brunson has continued to endear himself to the city while leading his team through the NBA playoffs.
After scoring 30 points in Saturday's Game 3 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals, Brunson was asked how the "King of New York" would address the NYPD shutting down the watch party outside of Madison Square Garden.
"That's a tough one," Brunson said. "I'll come back to you on that one."
Brunson has become one of New York's most beloved superstars since he joined the Knicks in 2022. Fans previously called for him to take over as the city's next mayor, though his teammates wouldn't go that far.
"I don't think he's the Mayor," Knicks guard Mikal Bridges said with a smile.
If Brunson and the Knicks complete the four-game sweep of the Cavs in Monday night's Game 4 and reach the NBA Finals for the first time since 1999, fans will surely have his throne ready when he arrives back to New York to take his place as king.
