After the results of the 2025-26 All-Defensive team were released on Friday with Barnes on the second team, the Raptors star posted a "bulls--t" response on X:

The race for the fifth and final spot on the first team was very close between Barnes and Derrick White, with just 16 total points separating them.
Barnes' use of multiple laughing and smiling emojis suggests he isn't too aggrieved to be on the second team, but it does provide him with more motivation as he begins offseason workouts.
The 24-year-old is coming off the best season of his career in 2025-26. He made the All-Star team, All-Defensive team and finished fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting.
Toronto had a 16-win improvement from the previous season, going from 30 wins in 2024-25 to 46 this season. The Raptors made the playoffs for the first time since 2021-22, losing in the first round to the Cleveland Cavaliers in seven games.
