Anonymous Donor Pays $9M for Private Meal with Steph Curry, Warren Buffett in eBay Charity Auction
An anonymous donor is paying more than $9 million for the chance to eat lunch with Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry and investor Warren Buffett.
Lunch with Buffett, Curry and his wife Ayesha Curry was auctioned on eBay Thursday night as part of an event benefitting the Currys' Eat. Learn. Play Foundation and the GLIDE Foundation, a homeless charity based in San Francisco.
The winning bid came in at $9,000,100, per Josh Funk of the Associated Press. The lunch will take place in June in Buffett's hometown of Omaha, Nebraska.
The bid price will be split between charities and matched by Buffett so that each organization will receive $9 million from the promotion, according to the Currys.
"We're overwhelmed with gratitude for this opportunity, which reflects a shared belief that when different generations and institutions come together with purpose, we can create deeper and more lasting impact for the people who need it most," Steph and Ayesha Curry said in a statement on Instagram.
Buffett, 95, regularly auctioned off annual private lunches to benefit GLIDE from 2000 to 2020. An anonymous bidder paid $19 million when the lunch was last auctioned in 2022.
