Steve Kerr Snuck Taylor Swift Lyrics into Warriors Press Conferences, Showed Video Edit to Singer

Timothy RappMay 14, 2026

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr might just be a Swiftie.

According to ESPN's Wright Thompson, "Three years ago, to entertain himself in his press conferences, Kerr worked phrases from Taylor Swift's song 'All Too Well' into his interview answers, smoothly enough that nobody noticed. For instance, to get the first line of the song, he took the podium after beating the Rockets in March of 2023 and said, 'I walked through the doorย of the locker room at halftime.' Over a long season he got most of the lyrics done, crossing them off as he went. His son Matthew later edited them into a video for their family group chat, so that Kerr appeared to have recited the whole song."

Swift eventually saw the video through a group friend and asked if she could post it to social media, though Kerr asked her if she would keep it private.

Kerr, 60, will return to the Warriors next season after considering retirement. In his 12 seasons he's gone 604-353 as a head coach with four titles, eight playoff appearances and a 2015-16 Coach of the Year award.
