Neither team was able to gain much separation throughout the first quarter of the game, as Detroit held a narrow 29-27 lead heading into the second.

The Pistons thrived offensively once the second quarter started, hitting their first eight field-goal attempts and taking a 47-32 advantage with just under seven minutes left in the period.

Cleveland cut into the deficit before halftime, but Detroit still led 60-52 at the break.

The Cavs stepped up on both ends of the floor to begin the second half, outscoring the Pistons 32-20 in the third quarter to take a four-point lead into the fourth.

Detroit was able to force turnovers and run in transition as the fourth quarter started to wind down, holding a 103-94 edge with three minutes remaining in regulation.

Cleveland closed the fourth on a 9-0 run and had an opportunity to win at the buzzer, but star guard Donovan Mitchell was stripped by Pistons forward Ausar Thompson to send the game to overtime.

Cleveland jumped out to a seven-point lead in overtime and Detroit wasn't able to recover, as the Cavs eventually connected on four free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Mitchell finished with 21 points and four rebounds, shooting 7-of-18 from the field.

James Harden was a key contributor for the Cavs in the win, scoring a team-high 30 points on 8-of-21 shooting. Harden also racked up eight rebounds, six assists and three blocks.
