SGA Joked About Viral Lakers Video Involving LeBron James, Austin Reaves, NBA Refs After Game 2
Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander couldn't help but find humor in the Los Angeles Lakers' viral meeting with the referees after they lost Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals.
Gilgeous-Alexander and his Thunder teammates watched and laughed as Austin Reaves, LeBron James and the rest of the Lakers surrounded the officials for a conversation after Oklahoma City's 125-107 victory.
"Do we get a meeting, too?" Gilgeous-Alexander joked at the moment, per ESPN's Tim MacMahon and Anthony Slater.
The Thunder now own a 3-0 advantage over the Lakers heading into Monday's Game 4, putting James, Reaves and company on the brink of elimination.
While the Lakers may have taken their complaints too far after Game 2, MacMahon and Slater noted that there are "frequent complaints by competitors about the Thunder getting a friendly whistle." However, Gilgeous-Alexander isn't worried about the outside perception from around the league.
"I just think it's all distractions away from the court," Gilgeous-Alexander told MacMahon and Slater. "That's how I see it. Whether they're right or wrong, the refs have made a call, and unless you challenge it, they're not going to change it. It's just another thing I can't control, so I really don't put any thought into it."
