Draymond Green Reacts to Wemby Elbowing Naz Reid After WCW Legend Questions About Suspension
Only through the magic of social media can we get the worlds of pro basketball and pro wrestling's "Monday Night Wars" era intersecting.
Glenn Gilbertti, who competed in WCW as Disco Inferno, reacted to the Flagrant 2 foul by San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama by asking what the reaction would've been if the Golden State Warriors' Draymond Green was involved.
"Y'all have called for my career for less," Green responded.

Wemby not punished for throwing elbow

Buzz on Potential Wemby Suspension
Wembanyama was ejected in the second quarter of Sunday's 114-109 loss for elbowing Minnesota Timberwolves center Naz Reid around the jaw.
Green is correct in that people would probably judge him differently than Wembanyama if he had elbowed Reid on Sunday. That's largely his own doing, though.
The four-time All-Star is a repeat offender.
Midway through the 2023-24 season, he started counseling sessions while serving an indefinite suspension for striking Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkić. That was his second ban that year, the first coming after he grabbed Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert around the neck during an on-court scuffle.
Green's reputation precedes him when he's in the middle of tense situations. It's no different than when the Houston Rockets' Dillon Brooks or Phoenix Suns' Grayson Allen — to cite two examples — straddle the line of what is and isn't acceptable on the court.
In time, perhaps Wembanyama gets to a point where he no longer receives the benefit of the doubt when he gets overly physical with an opposing player.
The fact that the two-time All-Star didn't seem to know what a Flagrant 2 foul is reflects how little he has been in that position before.
